Houston Chronicle Star
[HoustonChronicle.com - News] Editor Jeff Cohen says: "A daily newspaper is a lot like a house. Every now and then it needs a thorough inspection, a complete cleaning and some redecorating. That's what you're seeing in the form of different typefaces, headline styles and new ways to give you the latest information either in depth or at a glance."

The designers even made a guide to showcase the new features. Let's have a look at the most relevant ones.

- colour coding to help browse the paper. Business in yellow, This Week and City & State in blue, Sports in green.

- A coloured list of all the topics included in the page much like a website's sections names.

- Summary headlines to get to the heart of the story faster; or probably also give a feel of the story without having to read it all for people who prefer to scan or don't have the time to take the plunge.

- A "click star" logo and box that indicate that more info is available online at the paper's website for a specific subject. - The "News in 90 Seconds" will feature a summary of the news items in that day's Section A. Read it for a brief look at the top news stories of the day or to pique your interest to read more about it inside the section.

- Larger type is easier to read and pages are better organised to help you skim the surface or go deep.

The paper looks much better, but the star is obnoxious!
