There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later. This was honestly the first book in at least 5 years that I've read cover to cover. Since I don't read too much, it probably took me longer than the average person, but I finished the pages in about 3 long reading sessions.
The language level is probably high-school at a minimum, and an easy read for any or something. As a business person especially an advertising person I really enjoyed the insight into Timmy's work life and his successes. As a man, I really enjoyed Timmy's pursuit of the special lady.
The relationship that developed made me badly want to see a picture of her. And I would love to see her in video. She seems like so much fun. As a dreamer, I appreciated Timmy's desire to accomplish his life-long goals. The story itself is easy to follow along.
And the various perspectives on various situations prevented any monotony in the book. After reading pages, I had to stop to go to Church on Sunday.
But upon leaving church all I wanted to do was get home and finish the story. I did feel that the story ended quickly, but perhaps a slower ending version would be too drawn out. What happened at the end was not at all what I had expected. The author this apparently is his first book seems to have the ability to see average things from a completely unique perspective.
And when you read his perspective you say to yourself, "Wow, I wish I could think that way. Better yet, I would like him to write a story about my life so that I could see it in another way, maybe to motivate me, go after my goals, etc. One person found this helpful. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. Everything he has ever done has only served to build up to the moment when he step out on to the world stage and run against the best.
There will be sweat. There will be heartache. And, at the finish line, there will be a great reckoning for Timmy when spirituality and physicality collide in poignant fashion. Author Jeremy Chin has crafted a fantastic novel that works on so many levels: It's propulsive, timely and engaging. And all the supporting characters here are finely drawn and brilliantly realised. Love interest Cambria Lane is a real stand out, as is champion runner Haile Gebrselassie. They all serve to drive the exciting narrative and give Timmy's quest great meaning.
Yes, Fuel is the kind of book that qualifies as a true keepsake. So take my advice -- grab a copy, clear out your schedule and start reading it with an open mind. You'll thank me later. All I Can say is wow! This is the first book in a long while that had me smiling with happiness, laughing to the point I had to stop reading for a minute to recover, and crying of heartache.
But through it all gave me inspiration to run harder and longer, I have 5 half marathons this year and the book left me believing I should switch my last half on Dec. Thank you for the incredible book and amazing inspiration!! This is one book I plan to read over and over again. Anyone who runs and anyone who loves to read should read this book it is absolutely amazing! Jeremy Chin has written a work that is touching, amazing, uplifting, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, and just plain phenomenal.
I could not stop reading this story of a man and woman who, through pursuing their love of running, find not only each other, but themselves. I cannot say enough good things about this book. And I don't want to give away any plot points. But don't think it's just a book about running, or that you have to be a runner to enjoy it. And don't plan on doing anything else for two days - you will be enveloped by the world Chin creates and will fall in love with his characters. I just finished this now tear stained book by Jeremy Chin a few minutes ago.
There are no words to This book will remind you of what love is, how it should feel when its right, to If you have not bought this book yet, you are wrong my friend. Had I read this when it came out in , I would have not lost my self like I did, I would have been more vigilant talking to my father before he died, I wouldn't have let my son be manipulated out of my life. I woulda kept running til the end. All I can say now, for the rest of this journey, yichalal and if ya wanna know what that means I, like others, have thought this book was about running.
The back of the book doesn't really set the story up for the reader because the author wants you guessing what will happen next throughout the book. Though as the story went on I could personally guess what was going to happen next. Though the book kept me fixed especially during the middle. There were some bits that were too long-winded for my taste others may call this poetic.
I highly recommend this book for a light dramatic read. I bought this book thinking that it was going to be a book on running quotes and sayings. It was and so much more. From love to life, to perseverance, hope and despair.
The story is easy to read, with short chapters and it makes you want to get back to it as soon as possible, after putting it down. I thoroughly enjoyed this inspiring story that drew you in right till the end.
If there was a sad thing about the book, is that I finished it. I'm thinking a movie's in order!! For now I may pick it up and read it again. See all 43 reviews. Most recent customer reviews. COR has taught me about the power of my tools- my hands, my eyes, my tone… these can all have such a huge effect on your ability to make someone feel safe with you.
We are all individuals and yet, at a basic level, we all want the same things. To feel safe, to love, and to be loved.
I have witnessed firsthand how much it means to someone to be able to give- to show love. For those I support to be able to teach me about something, to make me lunch or buy me a coffee; this means that they view me as a friend and care about me just as I care about them.
I am proud to be a member of COR and proud of the strong relationships and friendships I have developed. Your email address will not be published. In my eyes, a culture of gentleness can be broken down to simply mean what do we all deem to be valuable and important in our lives?
